UCI Suicide on June 14, UC Irvine Student Found Dead at Plaza Verde 2 (PV2)

A tragic incident unfolded at the University of California, Irvine, on June 14, 2025, as a student died by suicide at the Plaza Verde 2 (PV2) student housing complex.

Emergency services, including police and EMTs, responded to the scene shortly after the incident. Witnesses reported seeing a heavy police presence near the PV2 parking structure. One student on Reddit described spotting “cops and a bag on the floor next to [the] parking structure,” unsure if it was a body or something else. Another confirmed, “Yeah, passed by and saw the guy laying there as the cops were pulling up.”

The identity of the student has not been officially released, and UCI authorities have yet to issue a formal statement.

Students across campus have taken to social media to express their heartbreak, confusion, and concern for mental health on campus. “I’m sorry to hear that, please take care of yourself,” one commenter posted on Reddit. “There are mental health resources at UCI, please reach out even if you feel fine right now.”

Others shared their sorrow for the family and friends of the deceased student, with one writing, “Definitely keeping their family and friends in thought, hope they’re all doing okay :(.”

“This kind of thing ruins your day,” another user added. “It’s just a sad situation… maybe it’s not too different than any other school, but it still hits hard.”

While the university has not yet responded publicly, students are urging each other to check in with friends, prioritize their well-being, and lean on the support services available.
